Choosing care & home gear

The care range holds 480 products in four groups: bowls and feeding (237), grooming and care (117), poop bags and clean-up (105), and cooling and summer gear (21). It is the cheapest part of the shop. The median price is €10.25, 238 items cost under €10 and 406 of the 480 stay under €25. Only 24 reach €50 or more, and most of those are trade packs or professional grooming tools rather than single household items.

Of the 237 feeding items, 171 are bowls. Thirty-nine are ceramic, 20 stainless steel, 11 silicone and 7 plastic. Ceramic is heavy, so the bowl stays put while a dog eats. Stainless steel is light and will not chip. Silicone folds flat for the car. Beyond bowls there are 22 slow feeders, 17 lick mats, 21 placemats, 12 stands and holders, 8 water fountains and 4 food storage silos.

Grooming runs to 117 items and two brands supply almost all of it: Trixie 51 and Zolux 50. There are 49 brushes, 23 of them slicker brushes, plus 32 combs, 13 de-matting and stripping tools, 12 nail clippers and 13 dental items. A short coat needs little more than a rubber brush and a comb. Long and double coats are where the slicker brush and the de-matting tools earn their place, and Activet adds 7 heavier coat-stripping tools, priced from €60.25.

Clean-up covers 105 items: 32 poop bag products, 14 dispensers and holders, 6 scoops, 22 training pads, 33 nappies, 25 male wraps and 2 house-training sprays. Nine of the nappies and wraps are washable rather than disposable. Easypets supplies 24 of the clean-up items, Trixie 31, Simple Solution 20 and Earth Rated 12. Cooling and summer is the smallest group at 21 items, with four paddling pools between €24.99 and €49.99, three life jackets and two sprinklers.

Frequently asked questions

Ceramic, stainless steel or plastic bowl?

Of the 171 bowls, 39 are ceramic, 20 stainless steel, 11 silicone and 7 plastic. Ceramic is the heaviest, so it slides least while a dog eats, but it chips if dropped. Stainless steel is light, does not chip and is easy to rinse. Silicone folds flat and travels well. Plastic is the cheapest and the easiest to scratch.

What does a slow feeder actually do?

A slow feeder is a bowl with ridges or a maze moulded into the base, so the food sits in channels rather than in one heap. The dog has to work around the pattern, which stretches a meal from seconds into minutes. There are 22 slow feeders here and 17 lick mats, which do the same job with a soft textured surface and wet food or paste.

Which brush suits my pet's coat?

Short coats need a rubber brush or a comb, and there are 32 combs in the range. Long and double coats need a slicker brush, of which 23 are stocked, to lift loose undercoat before it mats. Once mats have formed, a de-matting or carding comb is the right choice, and 13 are listed at €9.99 to €26.99. Activet adds 7 heavier coat tools above them. In total the range holds 49 brushes.

What do I need for clean-up at home and on walks?

For walks: poop bags, 32 products in all, plus 14 dispensers and holders that clip to a lead. For the garden, 6 scoops. Indoors, 22 training pads cover house-training, with 2 sprays that mark the spot the puppy should use. For dogs that leak or are in season there are 33 nappies and 25 male wraps, 9 of them washable.

What is in the cooling and summer range?

It is the smallest group in the shop, 21 items in total, so treat it as a seasonal shelf rather than a full range. It holds four paddling pools priced between €24.99 and €49.99, three life jackets sized by chest measurement, one cooling collar, two sprinklers and a handful of floating fetch toys. Brands are Trixie, Easypets, Croci and Aqua Coolkeeper.

Pawkit's care category covers feeding stations, travel bowls, grooming towels, pet stairs and car seat covers: practical, battery-free gear for daily pet care. Delivery across the EU, free from € 49 in the Netherlands and a 2-year legal guarantee on everything.
